The Floe Edge - known as the “line of life”, constantly forms and reforms. It serves as a metaphor for the artists in this exhibition who integrate personal, cultural and historical narratives of Canada’s Nunavut territory into their ever-evolving work. In the Inuktitut language, “art” translates as 'sanaugait' which means “things made by hand”. This exhibition includes hand-sewn seal skin dolls, shoes and lingerie alongside photographs, prints, painting and sculpture and in its diverse definition of “art”, it questions the very notion of what is meant by “museum-quality”.
