View an exhibition walkthrough online: https://www.sadiecoles.com/exhibitions/777/video NORTHERN SOUL – an exhibition of new works – centres on a group of wall sculptures of consisting of sunglasses and fragmented slices of doors, recalling his 2003 presentation Paradise Garage at the Scottish Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. In this new series Jim Lambie dismantles the segments of doors into quarters into rhythmic formalist bar-code style colonnades rendered in vivid metallic tones. In a new video work, Self Portrait in Seven Parts, Lambie appears for a moment at intervals on each screen, before effacing himself by spraying the camera lenses in different shades. The series of erasures of the self is concurrently filled with humour and a lingering mood of pathos.
