Ödön von Horváth’s play Kasimir and Karoline is the inspiration for this new group exhibition and HOME's opening show, exploring heartache, breaking up, disenchantment and the dark side of the funfair. The exhibition title, The heart is deceitful above all things, is an evocation of feelings of love and loss in uncertain times. What drives Kasimir and Karoline? And what are the parallels between their world, that of The Funfair and where we are today? A mixture of new commissions and existing art works respond to this provocative statement that cuts across history, society, psychology and also presents itself as a very contemporary conundrum. The exhibition will include new work from artists including Jeremy Bailey, Declan Clarke, Basim Magdy (commission produced by Art in General in collaboration with HOME) and Jessey Tsang and features existing work from Douglas Coupland, Irina Gheorghe and Wu Tsang amongst others.
