I am very pleased to share the work of our new artist, Tavares Strachan, who joined the Gallery in March, prior to the virus that changed our precious world. Together is a far-reaching community engagement project that Tavares began five years ago in Telluride, Colorado informed by his long-term collaboration with the local residents. It is a call for unity and a call for action. I first saw Tavares’ work at the Venice Biennale, one year ago, where I spent a considerable amount of time in the Central Pavilion engaging with his Encyclopedia of Invisibility project, a work that features thousands of entries focused on historically marginalized individuals, places, and events. I enjoyed meeting the artist shortly after, and I remember the lovely breakfast we had together and the lively conversations about everything from his upbringing in the Bahamas to his artistic vision. Since then, it has been exciting for me to watch the growing interest in his amazing work and I am very happy to be part of it. Please enjoy this online presentation of a public project that I believe will serve as a historic and prophetic marker in history. https://www.mariangoodman.com/viewing-rooms
