Overview

REPERCEIVED showcases a series of portraits created from life by London based visual artist Anupa Sahdev. The artworks emphasise a perceptual response to their respective subjects, allowing space for the sensations and subliminal connections. The artist embraces the uncertainty that prevails during the creative process avoiding a conscious formulaic method, in order to asymptote towards a connective stillness; working from the same model thus never results in the same outcome. The works are an infusion of the interaction between artist and model- both in terms of how they perceive each other –as well as themselves. Sahdev is inspired by the philosophical ideas of John Keats, as well as the paintings and drawings of Modigliani, Rembrandt and Vincent van Gogh. The main medium in the show is pastels that the artist feels allows for subliminal explorations and ethereal evocations through chromatic interactions.
