A- - -Z presents Atlas vanishing with Monira Al Qadiri A- - -Z will celebrate its three year anniversary at news of the world (enclave 4, 50 Resolution Way, Deptford, London, SE8 4NT) on Wednesday the 15th of July from 6.30pm We will mark the event with a specially commissioned postcard and a surprise screening by Monira Al Qadiri Come by, watch a film, have a drink and pick up a postcard! Atlas vanishing Atlas, the titan, after his defeat against the Olympians is sent off by Zeus to hold the celestial spheres at the Western edge of Gaia. In 2010, she received a Ph.D. in inter-media art from Tokyo University of the Arts, where her research was focused on the aesthetics of sadness in the Middle-East region stemming from poetry, music, art and religious practices. Her work explores the relationship between narcissism and masculinity, as well as other dysfunctional gender roles. She is currently expanding her practice towards social and political subjects. She is also part of the artist collective GCC, who has recently held a solo exhibition at MoMA PS1 in 2014.
