Keith Coventry : Junk Paintings

2 Nov-21 Dec 2012

Pace London, Soho
London W1F 0LB

Overview

Coventry first started to manipulate the logo in 2000. The discarded paraphernalia of fast food amassing outside his studio stirred several inspirations: firstly he noticed that the yellow, red and blue colours used by the company for their visual identity mirrored his own palette originally inspired by the Russian Constructivists. “Capitalist organisations have the ability to swallow everything including aesthetics which have emerged from the Communist era. It’s interesting to see people’s reactions towards that phenomenon.” said Keith Coventry about his use of primary colours in his new works.
