Daniel Turner is a Brooklyn-based artist known for using industrial materials, ranging from kerosene to charcoal, in his practice. Julia Dault lives and works in Brooklyn, a rich source for artificial materials with which she plays on the taste values attributed to texture, pattern and colour. Raphael Hefti seeks transformative reactions in his chosen materials. His 'Lycopodium' photograms show the nebulous emergence of light across massive stretches of photosensitive paper; his exposure of steel to extreme temperatures prompts the material to escape its defining features and become something else, with an aura of colour and a shattered surface structure.
