Overview

Alex Pearl makes mini epic films, installations, sculpture and books. Using readily available materials and software his installations and films are made from suddenly apprehended ideas, discovered objects and impromptu processes. For the empty shop in Abington Square he has created a parallel universe inhabited by tiny spacemen. Cut glass tumblers, tureens and decanters become towers in an alternate crystal world. Caravans, eyeballs, moss and solar powered insects inhabit this place, perhaps from outerspace, on the verge of collapse. At night the stars shine out from the shop in Pearl's lo-fi Stargazer films.
