Overview

See, watch and hear illegal firearms as musical instruments in Pedro Reyes’ ambitious installation. Reyes was offered the crushed revolvers, shot-guns and machine-guns by the Mexican government following their confiscation and public destruction. Disarm (Mechanized) will play at automated intervals, with the full performance at midday on Fridays and Sundays. This is the second installation in Turner Contemporary's Sunley Gallery as part of The Year of Mexico 2015 with Pedro Reyes' Disarm (Mechanized), 2012. This is the first time Disarm (Mechanized) has been exhibited in a UK public gallery. Following the presentation at Turner Contemporary, Disarm will tour to two European art festivals, CTM-Festival, Berlin (27 January 2016 – 28 February 2016) and TodaysArt - The Hague, Netherlands (September 2016). Disarm (Mechanized) is supported by the Embassy of Mexico in the UK and the Lisson Gallery.
