The UK’s first comprehensive survey on the work of US photographer Philip-Lorca diCorcia opens at The Hepworth Wakefield in 2014. One of the most important and influential photographers of today, diCorcia’s work addresses the issue of whether reality can truly be represented, a recurrent theme in his photograph which he creates as a series. Documentary-style images that appear seemingly close to reality are undermined by highly elaborate direction as diCorcia’s images oscillate between everyday elements and arrangements, staged down to the smallest details.
