Overview

Taking place over the duration of a normal exhibition period, Until it Makes Sense will create four distinct episodes within a dynamic revolving exhibition, presenting 20 artworks made by Mario Garcia Torres during the past ten years. Unfolding along a dramatic arc, each episode focusses on a distinctive element of the artist’s practice, and eventually tails back on itself to end where it started. Beginning with an opening sequence called Open, that introduces the sincerity of the practice through gestural forms, the episodes travel through a focus on the museum, Whenever I feel that something is missing in my life, I like to visit museums, a grouping of works exploding the autonomy of the individual, Self Ready Made, and culminate in a quiet but meaningful finale - the artist as labourer towards meaning, Until it Makes Sense. Note: our forthcoming exhibition of work by Jennifer Tee opens 29th August 2013.
