The Performance of Nothingness

Overview

This exhibition of work by Dom Sylvester Houédard, Ken Cox and Li Yuan Chia is curated by Nicola Simpson whose doctoral research is in this area. It will show a selection of works that explore the idea of nothingness, where the work itself is as ephemeral as the air in a balloon or an imprint on white paper. It will include a group of iconic balloons made by Ken Cox in 1968, concrete poems by Dom Sylvester Houédard and magnetic reliefs or 'points' by Li Yuan Chia. Through the interplay of these works, the exhibition will examine the relationships between the three artists through correspondence, sharing of ideas and memorial.
