Overview

Liu Ding is an artist and curator from Beijing who will be here for one month to develop his existing project ‘Liu Ding’s store – in conversations’; a project which establishes an area for thinking and discussion centred around the value of art. Often in response to an exhibition or event Liu Ding has been invited to, the artist would initiate a conversation with the concerned practitioner, whether it is a fellow artist, curator or gallery director. For the residency period, Liu Ding will be inviting local arts practitioners into the space to engage with the project. The participants of the conversations are always limited: the artist himself, the invited guest and a moderator the artist has invited to act for the conversations. This moderator, played by Carol Yinghua Lu, who is an art critic and curator, will start the conversations by stating the time, date, place, participants present and will explain the concept, rules and formats of the conversations.
