Overview

The exhibition presents work by two groups of artists who emerged in St Petersburg in the 1980s and 1990s - the New Artists and the New Academy - two movements that changed the face of contemporary art in Russia. Both movements were founded by artist Timur Novikov. The exhibition is curated by Ekaterina Andreeva and will bring together painting, video, graphic and archival material to illustrate the anarchist tendencies in the works of the New Artists and the New Academy, as well as their interest in the history of art and the classical form.
