Overview

2016’s New East Photo Prize exhibition showcases selected work by the finalists of the first edition of the New East Photo Prize. The Prize champions contemporary perspectives on the people and countries of Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Russia and Central Asia. The work of the ten finalists reflects a range of approaches and subject matters encompassing the use of video, portraiture and landscape photography. The winner will have their work published as a photo book, and will be announced with a reception on Thursday 1 December. A Special Prize will be also awarded to an unfinished documentary project by New East Photo Prize partner Bird In Flight magazine. From 2 – 4 December, Calvert 22 will also host the New East Photo Weekend, with a series of interactive events aimed at photographers of all ages.
