Georgina Starr : Before Le Cerveau Affamé

11 Oct-13 Dec 2013

Cooper Gallery
Dundee DD1 4HN

Overview

A major solo exhibition by one of the most distinctive YBAs Georgina Starr, presents newly commissioned works developed especially for the Cooper Gallery’s unique architectural setting. Imbued with inexplicably emotive renderings of her own languages and characters, Starr’s work is an intense and introspective cosmology. Starr is celebrated internationally since the 1990s for her magically complex and multi-layered works. For Cooper Gallery, Starr offers a glimpse into ‘Le Cerveau’, a space for metaphysical transformation, and introduces us to its main motifs, the four suits of ‘The Brain’, ‘The Bubble’, ‘The Cat’ and ‘The Hand’. The Book Launch of Starr's new Artist's Book The History of Sculpture and A Forum of the Voice featuring performance lectures will be held in late Nov. & early Dec. respectively. Please see website for dates and times.
