They Whisper They Murmur... The Life and Work of Werner Schreib

6 Oct 2016

Laure Genillard
London W1T 1HB

Overview

Werner Schreib was an important rising star in the post-war German art scene. He is best known to London audiences for his participation in the 1966 Destruction in Arts Symposium where he created several notorious pyrotechnic performances condemning the Allied involvement in the Vietnam War. His practice was outward-looking, collaborative and prolific, spanning painting, printmaking, performance, poetry and public sculpture, but his contributions were prematurely cut short when he died suddenly in a fatal collision with a jack-knifed lorry on the autobahn at the age of 44. Laure Genillard invites you to a film screening and discussion with AFTERSHOCK curator Rozemin Keshvani on the controversial life and practice of Werner Schreib, to celebrate Frieze London 2016 West End Night.  Please join us for a late night viewing and drink at the gallery afterwards until 9pm.
