Combining found objects with natural and industrial materials, Ireland makes sculptures that reformat the tropes of landscape. Recent works employ bodily tubular lines of cast concrete that droop, hang, jump and pose in space. Traces of the materiality of a city and its architecture such as fencing, pipes and brackets are combined with these newly crafted elements, offering a three-dimensional reflection on the aesthetic and atmosphere of our designed surroundings and their relationship to an idealised world-view.
