VIDAR BY SEAN SHANAHAN

26 Sep 2002-5 Jan 2003

Hugh Lane Gallery
Dublin D01 F2X9

Overview

Vidar, an exhibition of recent work by the Dublin born artist Sean Shanahan is the artist's first museum piece. This new body of 18 paintings has been created specifically with the Gallery's Georgian architecture in mind. Shanahan's self referential geometric abstractions are distinguished by a stillness and economy, which belie thier process of refinement. The artist chose to work on MDF preferring its textural neutrality, having previously used natural wood, fibreboard and steel.
