Lucy Beech and Edward Thomasson's choreographed group actions are developed through workshops with trained and untrained performers. At the centre of their practice is an exploration of how performance is initiated in non-theatrical environments as a tool for working through everyday problems and experiences. For their show at OUTPOST the artists have worked with a group of nine performers, of various ages, to construct a carefully choreographed action for camera. With reference to line-dancing, the resulting work looks specifically at how instructions are simultaneously heard, understood and followed in an attempt to organise the relationship between the individual and the group.
