‘I think it’s interesting how narrative works in a painting — it’s not dictated in real time, but it does have its own time. So you can read the painting and it can unfold, but in a slightly different way for everyone.’ – Dana Schutz. For Shadow of a Cloud Moving Slowly (2020), Dana Schutz’s first solo exhibition in London, Schutz presents a selection of new paintings and bronze sculptures continuing her visualisation of fictional narratives and subjective experience. At No.11 Duke Street, Schutz presents six bronze sculptures which rearticulate her own pictorial features while at No.3 Duke Street, new large-scale paintings extend Schutz’s attentiveness to painting as an affective space and a continuous history.
