Michael Mulvihill
17 Jan-28 Feb 2015

Michael Mulvihill will stage a solo exhibition in the Project Space, presenting a series of new works made while artist in residency at Northumbria University. The exhibition will bring together a series of drawings based on the Vulcan XL319 aircraft, which is now permanently installed at the North-East Land, Sea and Air Museum in Sunderland. Recalling his fascination with the Cold War, Mulvihill remembers growing up as a child in the Eighties, running home from school to see whether he could beat the ‘four minute’ attack warning that would signal nuclear annihilation. He failed, it took him 6 minutes. The artist uses this biographical anecdote to focus his attentions on broader geopolitical narratives of that era.
