Overview

Maps have continued to provide a potent source material for artists for many years. They provide attempts to make sense of a world that is ever in transformation, whether in terms of physical manifestations such as valleys, rivers and canyons; or blurred or contested borders, betraying evidence of conflict, resitance, negotiation and power. However, the focus for this exhibition will be on land, sea and air, bringing together bodies of work by artists that are varied in approach and whose works span a period of overy forty years. Together, they reflect on the personal, the poetic and the political.
