Overview

Japanese fashion, furniture and crafts from Manchester Art Gallery's collections are shown together in the newly restored Design Gallery. Providing an overview of the past fifty years of Japanese design, the display includes fashion, furniture, lighting, ceramics, glass, metalwork and jewellery by Japanese designer makers and UK artists and designers inspired by Japanese culture and techniques. 34 designer-makers are shown, including Shiro Kuramata,Issey Miyake,Edmund de Waal and Yohji Yamamoto.
