Standpoint Futures Residency Programme 2012: Rachel Adams

22 Nov 2012-1 Jan 2000

Standpoint Gallery
London N1 6HD

Overview

Open Studio Thursday 22nd November – Friday 23rd, 12-6pm Artist talk Thursday 22nd November, 6.30pm Employing myths and traditional sculptural motifs, Rachel Adams toys with the identity of an object and its relationship to both traditional materials and museum structures. In some works, the plinth is developed well beyond being a mere support and becomes integral to the work being crafted to the same extent as the sculpture. Drawing, craft and furniture materials, paper, yarn, fabric, and starch are used to make associations with traditional sculptural techniques such as modelling and casting.
