Overview
The next exhibition at Max Wigram Gallery will consist of a series of Modern Paintings by Pavel Büchler. After a highly successful year, in which his work has featured in a tremendous range of international exhibitions, he will make a series of paintings derived from other paintings. This is a form of undoing of the past, in this case a load of paintings found in Edinburgh, and reassembling for the present. Büchler takes the found and paints layer upon layer of acrylic primer to then draw out the already obliterated in a manner that, though, touching and reminiscent of the structure of the medium, comes with a totally different logic.
