Sculptor, photographer and acquisitor Richard Wentworth’s exhibition is his response to the traditional cabinet of curiosities. Squaring up to the space of Gallery 5, Richard Wentworth CBE plays with perceptions of volume and length and ideas around mis/judgement, misperceptions and the domestic drama of self-corrected failure. In Gallery 6, A Confiscation of String, 2009 explores ideas of currency, exchange and the treasure in a cabinet containing examples of string, both natural and manmade, brought to the Gallery by manufacturers, artists, collectors and hobbyists.
