V&A
London SW7 2RL

Overview

A Diamond Jubilee Celebration. This exhibition features portraits of Her Majesty the Queen by great society photographer Cecil Beaton. It shows the Queen in her roles as princess, monarch and mother and coincides with the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne. There are nearly 100 images from war time to official portraits and informal moments of the Queen at home. The exhibition includes a number of never seen before photographs as well as film clips and Beaton's personal scrapbooks and shows how the image of the monarchy changed dramatically over the course of the 20th century.
