Overview

For her first solo show, 2009 Eastern Approaches winner, Aviva Leeman, seeks out the hidden, the forgotten and the overlooked in the social history archives, to create new work for the gallery space sited at the heart of the museum. Concerned with how notions of ‘public’ manifest in our physical realities and everyday language (written and spoken), Leeman’s practice draws on the experiences of others through interview, consultation, participation or anonymous involvement.
