The Showroom presents the first UK iteration of Dawn Breaks, an ongoing project by two Korean artists of different generations: Jewyo Rhii and Jihyun Jung. The project consists of multiple sculptural works set up in the gallery space as story telling devices, creating a moveable collective theatre in which narratives and performances are drawn from conversations. At The Showroom this installation will see existing kinetic sculptural pieces from the project combine with newly produced works created using found materials such as wood, wire, sheets of MDF and metal. Working in a new way Rhii and Jung will connect with the local area, inviting participants from The Showroom’s neighbourhood to activate the works as miniature theatres, as they become vehicles for personal and collective stories.
