For the month of May, Stephen Friedman Gallery will become 'Galerie de l'Époque', a fictional gallery founded in Paris in 1948 evoking the values and aesthetic of an earlier era. Masterpieces by early twentieth century icons will give context to a growing number of contemporary artists whose work is currently being reevaluated. Icons like Picasso and Schwitters will hang alongside Gego, Jiro Takamatsu, Jack Whitten and others and demonstrate that art of exceptional quality from different time periods has a binding and profound synergy.
