Zoe Williams:The Flight of O + Aaron Williamson:Affligare
30 Apr-6 Jun 2010

The Flight of O is Zoe Williams’ first major solo show and most ambitious sculptural installation. She pursues her on-going interest in the material and symbolic properties of the ‘precious’: here mythically charged materials such as porcelain, gold leaf and coral are intermingled with silky horse hair and slippery lacquer with fetishistic intent. Aaron Williamson has created a series of outlandish objects set against an exploded museum-style tableaux in 'The Affligare Unit' - a series of shamanistic sculptures that fuse ancient and modern and build upon Williamson’s previous work which has investigated omitted histories of disability in similarly humourous and satirical ways.
