For their forthcoming Platform residency Planning for Play, artists Simon and Tom Bloor will be making a series of new sculptural works based on their ongoing research into children’s play-spaces and the legacy of modernism. Using the residency period as a ‘live’ studio, the Bloors will create a series of works that take architect Richard Dattner’s assertion that ‘Play is scope for action’ as a starting point. The artists will turn the galleries into a space where they can play with the act of making, while allowing visitors opportunities to play with the act of engaging. Over the course of four weeks, they will experiment with art making as a playful process and play as a creative process.
