Barbara and Henry – The Musical is an exploration of an imagined relationship between revered sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, conceived by artist Mel Brimfield and singer-songwriter Gwyneth Herbert for this Platform residency. Brimfield and Herbert will work together with composer Paul Higgs to devise a number of songs through scratch performances and open rehearsals. The gallery will become a theatrical set with costumes, props and backdrops emerging from packing crates and a piano at the heart of the installation. The artists will also draw together and share a whimsical archive including original historical documents alongside Brimfield's own playful contributions, deliberately presenting fact alongside fiction.
