Overview

Beatriz Olabarrieta’s work merges the languages of writing, theatre and visual art. For her residency here at Site she will be scripting a new play, starring a cast of sculptures that she will build on-site using locally-sourced materials; the play will give voices and personalities to inanimate objects. You will be able to come along to visit Beatriz in the gallery during our usual opening hours (11am – 5.30pm), to see how her play is progressing. She will also be looking for volunteers to take part in interviews – the content of which will help inform the development of the sculptures’ personalities. The works will be assembled on site and will be worked and re-worked, over the course of five weeks culminating in a final performance on Saturday 12 March at 3pm.
