Overview

The Royal West of England Academy has a secret storeroom of treasures at its heart: over 1300 paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures, mainly collected in the Post War era. Since 1941, the Talboys Bequest has enabled RWA Presidents to purchase a small number of works each year, resulting in a unique and eclectic selection of British Art. Naturescape features figurative and abstract works from the RWA Permanent Collection, many of which have not been seen for years. Nature becomes the starting point for explorations of fundamental human experiences, such as sight, sound, memory and the senses.
