Overview

Pierre Bergian paints empty rooms - sometimes there is a solitary piece of furniture, a ladder, a piano, a table, but these seem to do little more than add to the emptiness. Behind the mystery in his images lies a taste for old interiors and abandoned rooms, an interest in what Bergian calls `the archaeology of the interior'. These paintings are the result of his travelling in the past two years throughout Europe, visiting different cities and landscapes. The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue with a text by Dr Frances Borzello.
