Purdy Hicks Gallery
London SW7 2LQ

Overview

We are delighted to present an exhibition of new work by Jonathan Delafield Cook. Taking as his inspiration the research and travels of Charles Darwin, specifically his voyage on the Beagle 1831-36, Delafield Cook began work on the series in 2009 in conjunction with the 150th Anniversary of the publication of `The Origin of the Species'. The exhibition will focus on marine life - from barnacles (a particular fascination of Darwin), shoals of fish, a life size narwhal and an awe-inspiring eleven-metre young female sperm whale. A fully illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition with an essay by Ian Warrell.
