Haris Epaminondas’s first major exhibition in the UK centres on the newly commissioned film Chapters (2013). Filmed in Cyprus, this is a poetic series of meticulously staged scenes with underlying narrative elements of love, longing, afterlife and ritual. At its core, Chapters represents Epaminonda interrogation of the classical film composition using, in her own words, ‘film as a way in which to create sculpture’. As a result the scenes are independent and run in a non-consecutive order with the narrative evoked by the actions of the performers.
