Eva Kotátková creates works that are proposals for living in an awkward age, blueprints for difficulties that must be overcome in order to explore the limits of human relationships and behaviour. Starting by examining the rituals and mechanisms of her immediate surroundings. Working in a series of interrelated and interchangeable pieces; drawings, photographs and sculpture are reconfigured within broad themes while employing an established vocabulary of contemporary art to reevaluate ‘normal’.
