Fiona Davies: Blood on Silk

Overview

Australian artist Fiona Davies' monumental textile work will directly address the structure of the James Hockey Gallery in this ambitious site-sensitive installation, curated by Lesley Millar. The exhibition comprises a single work - Blood on Silk: Farnham. Working as a semi permeable membrane, layers of handmade silk paper both delineate the structure of the gallery space and partially conceal it. Referencing both connective tissues and funeral shrouds, the silk paper forlornly invokes ideas and experiences of absence.
