Ikon presents a major exhibition by British artist Susan Collis. Her work involves a subversion of visual perception through the manipulation of everyday things. Humble objects – screws in a wall, lengths of timber, stained and paint-splashed overalls and dust-sheets – appear discarded, yet on closer inspection are found to be made from precious materials. Gold and silver is cast into various forms, gemstones are meticulously inlaid in wood and carefully embroidered marks replicate the accidental and spontaneous.
