Ikon presents a survey of work by Birmingham-born artist Roger Hiorns. Through the transformation of materials and readymades, he focuses on various aspects of modern life, often through current affairs. To date Hiorns’ work has involved growing vast amounts of copper sulphate crystals – on objects ranging from car engines to domestic interiors – paintings made from brain matter, jet engines containing anti-depressant drugs and a cathedral choir lying down
