Overview

Residency artist Francesc Ruiz (Spain) explores urban subcultures to build narratives that weave his personal experiences into the social dynamics around him. During his residency Ruiz will develop a project titled Gasworks Yaoi. He plans to create a fictional comic that takes as a starting point the gay scene in the Vauxhall area where Gasworks is situated. Yaoi is a comic genre often translated to "boy's love", referring to a type of homoerotic comic produced and consumed by women. Ruiz's residency and subsequent exhibition are supported by Seacex and the Fundación Marcelino Botín.
