Sally Morfill & Susan Giles: Found Gestures

Overview

Susan Giles and Sally Morfill’s collaborative work stems from their shared interest in the visual language of co-speech gestures. They use motion capture technology to record the hand movements that accompany descriptive statements, and translate them into 2-D drawings and 3-D objects. For Five Years, the work takes the form of a series of 3-D printed sculptures providing material traces of movement as it relates to the spoken word. This is the second phase in a collaboration that began with a residency and exhibition at Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago in Spring 2019. Please see website for details of opening hours and events.
