Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was one of the most influential artists to emerge in the 20th century. In collaboration with ARTIST ROOMS and for the first time in Colchester, this exhibition brings together some of the artist’s most notable drawings, silkscreen paintings, photographs, films, posters, prints and installations. As the founder of Pop art, Warhol was a true visionary, still influencing much of our relationship to celebrity and culture today. His parents were economic migrants to America and he believed in the power of democracy to reach every aspect of our lives, including art. Through experimentation, collaboration and a unique candidness, he had a profound impact on his adopted city of New York and later on the entire world.
