Overview

're Composing' uses light, mirrors, simple overhead projectors and natural materials to explore elements of architecture, history and religious worship, highlighted and magnified through projection around the space. The installation continues 're Connecting re Creation' a commissioned work for Holy Trinity Church in York, inspired by an unusual image of a 'secret garden' within one of the stained glass windows. The glass garden is replanted from this sacred context to create new associations. Helen Maurer originally studied Fine Art and Theatre before specialising in glass, with an MA from the Royal College of Art. She has exhibited internationally and often collaborates with other artists, choreographers and musicians. An accompanying essay by Neal Brown will be available as part of the exhibition.
