Emily Murayama

Emily Murayama (b. Kent, UK) is an English-Japanese artist who works across film, installation, sculpture, and living materials. She graduated from Goldsmiths University in 2019, having studied Fine Art and History of Art.

Her work addresses the convergence of the domestic and personal yet ubiquitous setting of “home”, and speculative manifestations of food and ensuing human relationships to it. New and old relationships to technology old and new underlie her subject matter; in other words, the obsolescence of technology paralleled with a geriatric tendency to become the outdated party.

She investigates through gardening, cooking and filming, and uses found objects including furniture, outdated AV equipment, vegetables, and lighting to construct video installations.
