Belinda Cadbury

b. 1939, United Kingdom

Born in Birmingham, Belinda Cadbury's early career in Theatre, Opera and Film Design is recognised across the UK and Europe. From 1958 to 1969 she worked on numerous commissions before studying sculpture at the City and Guilds of London Art School from 1969 - 72; from 1973 until the early 1990's Cadbury continuously taught 20th Century Film and Theatre Design at the Cheltenham College of Art. The artist has exhibited in the UK, USA and Europe since the 1970s.
In 2009, she exhibited in Japan for the first time in a joint exhibition with her partner John Carter. Most recently, the artist was recognised for contributing to contemporary drawing with a large-scale exhibition showcasing three monumental drawings at MUWA in Graz, Austria. The ambitious installation, which dissects the unusual octagonal space, perfectly suits the artist's works, which are made of intricate repetitive patterns or space-defining stripes of pencil lines.
